walkies

I’ve been enjoying a few walks over the past couple of weeks that had been organised between friends.

They started last Saturday with a trip up Moel Famau (www.moelfamau.co.uk) with Emily and Simon.  We had a dry but very windy, overcast day for the walk.  We didn’t hang around long at the top, stopping to have a quick bite to eat.  Stella enjoyed having the ball thrown for her even if it didn’t quite go where it was expected to go. 😉 I enjoyed catching up with Emily and Simon and introducing them to the mountain.

This week on Friday I headed to Delamere Forest with some new friends from work.  We walked for about 3 hours around the tracks in the forest park keeping dry despite the colour of the sky above – although the puddles on the paths were evidence that rain was in the air.  Stella seemed pleased about being able to put her ball down in all these puddles for us to pick up and throw.  At the end of the walk we all gathered at the Bunbury Arms for a pub lunch.  They gave us the small bar area all to ourselves – that was thanks to Stella being restricted to certain areas of the pub, I think.  Stella was spoiled with lots of fussing and liver treats.  She was quite pleased about getting liver at the end of the meal and thought she’d like to try to reach some mashed potatoes left on someone’s plate as well.  Talk about showing me up in front of my new friends! Thankfully they seemed to like her despite her (newly discovered!) table manners…

This Saturday it was time for another trip up Moel Famau this time with Helen, Francis and Owen.  The views from the top were lovely and clear and when the sun came it was warm enough for t shirts.   We spent longer this time at the top enjoying the views and the sun.  There were also some Para gliders taking advantage of the weather making for some good photo taking opportunities.

More walkies are on the cards for this coming weekend as we’re set to tackle Pendle Hill in Lancashire.  More on that later….
