ups and downs of the weekend…

I’ll start with the ups…

Brent, Stella and I had a lovely time camping in Delamere.  We arrived on Friday night and after getting set up (time for Brent’s pop up tent to go up = 5s) we still had time for a walk around Blakemere Moss.  On Saturday Stella and I got up pretty early and had a little squirrel chase in the morning and then the 3 of us walked up to the 7 counties stone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delamere_Forest#Old_Pale and enjoyed the views.  After lunch back at the van, we met up with Fred, Barbara and Dave for a wander through the forest followed by pizza at the on-campsite pizza wagon.  The man in the van makes everything by hand and using a wood burning stove as the oven.  Barbara and I had a go putting up the awning on the van when the rain seemed to be threatening while the guys stood in the pizza queue but it wasn’t really required – good thing too as I think my awning efforts had something to be desired when the whole things collapsed as soon as the wind picked up!  Later that night, Brent and I watched the most cheesy 80s movie possible in the comfort of the van: “Pretty in Pink”.

Sunday began with another walk and after packing up, we drove to Chester for lunch at a lovely, dog friendly pub called the Harker’s Arms on the canal.  On the way home we stopped at Parkgate for a walk, more ball throwing for Stella and ice cream, of course!  A very successful weekend with lots of fresh air and exercise for all 3 of us.

Paul enjoyed his weekend and especially the time at the christening he went too for his friend’s Neil and Jane and the success of Liverpool on Saturday against Arsenal.  Both Stella and I were very pleased to see him on Sunday evening, though. 😉

And now onto the downs…

I was really upset to find out that my Aunt June has had a stroke over the weekend.  She is one of the most independent, busy people I have ever known so I can only imagine how this must be so upsetting and frustrating for her…. All my thoughts are with her at the moment.  Get well soon, please.
