penguin spotting…

Happy Birthday, Brent!  He came up from London this weekend to celebrate his birthday with us.  We went for a walk up Bidston Hill, had a big birthday dinner last night (including cake and singing), went and got a Christmas tree, visited the Port Sunlight village Christmas fair, sat by the fire and did lots of chatting.  Not too long to wait until his next visit either as he’s coming up for New Year.

This weekend I also saw the my first 4 penguins of the 142 that have popped up around Liverpool, the Wirral and St. Helens for the holiday season.  http://www.gopenguins.co.uk/site/ It’s part of a public art exhibition modelled after the Go SuperLambBananas that was around and about in 2008.  http://www.gosuperlambananas.co.uk/  Penguins have been chosen this time as they are symbolic of the environmental issue of climate change and also are wintery creatures!  They have been painted by different professional and amateur artists, schools and communities.

I really like this type of art and think I’m going to have to get out and look for some more of them.
