So this weekend has been all about Brent in London. The main purpose of the visit was to see Brent and his *new* life in the big smoke. It has been a great visit and it is nice to see Brent settled, happy and becoming very familiar with his cool neighbourhood. His flat is a great retreat in the big city. Here’s a couple pictures of the outside and inside of his place and the view out back.
Brent was a great tour guide around the city. We spent most of the weekend walking. On Saturday the weather was fantastic as we walked through Hyde Park and across to Knightsbridge. We went shopping in Harrods and had Dim Sun in the food hall and then walked back along Marylebone high street. Later, we met Michelle for dinner at a restaurant called Bob Bob Ricard in Soho which was a cool, Orient Express inspired place recently opened by someone that Brent knows. Drinks followed in a bar on the way home.
Today we walked through Regent’s Park and along Camden canal and then browsed the quirky, crowded markets of Camden with their fantastic smells and colours.
I really like London and its vibrancy. I like the history of the city. I like the shops and markets and the choices of food available to eat and drinks to drink. I like the old buildings and the blending of architecture from different eras. I like the green spaces and the fact that everything is “just around the corner”.
But what I like most is the fact that Brent now lives just a 2 hour train ride away.
