It was our 6 year anniversary this weekend and to celebrate, we took an extra couple of days off work and headed for a camping weekend in Betws-y-coed. It was the first proper trip in the camper van this year and also the first trip we’d had in the van since it had all the repairs done to the body work as well as all the work Paul’s been doing on the electrics, insulation and installing a new fridge.
The weather stayed dry for the weekend and we managed 3 very good walks. The first was just outside Conwy on the way across on Friday morning. The others were in Gwydyr Forest Park which we walked to from our campsite in the village. We came across old mine workings, lots of forest tracks, ponies, waterfalls and great views. Stella overdid it on the walks as usual but that meant for good sleeping for the 3 of us in the van at night.
The bakery in Betws-y-coed is fantastic and we frequented it on several occasions over the weekend. We also enjoyed fish and chips and a little browse in a couple of shops. We managed to sit outside in the sun on Sunday afternoon – this seemed like a special treat and was really appreciated after a cold and wet winter period.
And our indulgence in a long weekend this weekend and the upcoming easter weekend makes for a really short working week. Three days. I can cope with that.
