Christmas 2013

Merry Christmas!

I can’t believe that Christmas has been and gone – never mind the fact that we are now in the final hours of 2012…

We have had a quiet Christmas – made even quieter by me catching a cold and then kindly passing it on to Paul when I’d finished with it…. Neither one of us felt like doing much for a couple of days.  Quiet has meant relaxing (I guess for some it could mean boredom) and as usual, I felt very spoiled and loved…  I got a lovely sweater for Christmas, some nice warm tops, some beautiful new things for the kitchen, sweets and chocolates, tickets to see a concert at the Liverpoool Philharmonic, some Christmas decorations and even “his and hers” beaver canoe tops!  Sweet.  We had a wonderful Christmas dinner at Jayne and Paul’s Christmas Day followed by a session of lego building. We ate more than was necessary but everything tasted so good.

One of the highlights for me this year was being able to entertain again after a few months of renovations in the kitchen.  The work has almost finished – just the final touches now, really – but already the occupancy in the house has shifted markedly in its direction.  I love being in the room now that all the efforts (mostly Paul’s!) have come together.  The kids came over on Christmas Eve for an afternoon of crafts followed by consumption of Snowmen pizza.  We tracked Santa on the internet (he was in Malaysia at the time) and watched Ice Age.  The kids were excited but very well behaved.

For me, another highlight this year has been Mum getting a new iphone.  I love being able to message her more often without worrying about the costs and sending silly little pictures back and forth.  We are having fun with facetime too.

On boxing day, we went for a walk not far from home but explored a few new paths and areas that neither one of us had been on before.  It was from our “Circular Walks on the Wirral” book.  We even saw a ship on the Mersey when we were in Eastham Woods that had Stella’s name on the side of it!

I think its fair to say, we enjoyed the walk a lot more than Stella enjoyed wearing her Christmas jumper!

So that’s it from me for 2012. Happy New Year from us to you and all the best for 2013.
