birkenbub & lady moose?…

Camping in October?  Are you crazy?  Well – apparently we weren’t the only ones.  The campsite we went to in Betws-y-coed, Wales this past weekend was full!  I can see why, though.  It was a great site with lovely heated bathrooms, warm showers, enormous pitches and if that wasn’t enough, it was in a great location for the amenities of the village.  Brent got the train up from London and met us there.  He is definitely more hard core than we are.  He was in a tent without a heater, bed etc etc.  We had some funny, rather random conversations over the course of the weekend… something about us living in a Birkenhead bubble (bikenbub) and the fact that the moose in the picture on my Ontario parks bag was a female (lady moose) to name a few….

We did a couple of walks – of course.  The weather was pretty good for the time of year.  It wasn’t too cold and only a bit wet.  The wind at the top of Moel Siabod (the destination on one of our walks) was rather “interesting” though…. I was kind of expecting Dorothy to make an appearance from above with her red shoes on.

Skunk sheep? I’ve never seen any like that before!

All 3 of us are having another go this coming weekend as we head up to the Lake District.  Will “this” be the last camping trip of the year?  Perhaps not, actually!  I just found out one of our favourite campsites is open until the end of November and the campsite we’ve just come back from is open all year!

Lauren always makes us say what we’re thankful for at this time of year.  I’m very lucky to be able say that there are far too many things to mention everything.  However, after the weekend  I’m going to give a specific thankful mention to my favourite guys: Paul, Brent & Frank! Red heart
