I’m Val and I live in Oxton village with my husband Paul and our dog, Stella. I was born just north of Toronto and grew up in a family of avid hobby photographers - there was always someone with a camera in their hand!

I got my first camera when I was in primary school - it was a Kodak point and shoot film camera and I took it on my school class trips and brought it to England when we came to visit my grandparents.  I got my first “proper” camera (with a lens you could change and everything) just before I went to high school and I have never stopped loving my camera.

Aside from photography, I love my family, friends.  I’m organised and a bit of a geek – I was always top of my class in school and I love science and watching Star Trek.  I have an extreme soft spot for animals and I love volunteering to take pictures of the lovely animals that Wirral Animal Sanctuary foster and rescue.  I love going away camping in our VW campervan, eating sweets, baking, crying at good (and bad!) romantic comedies and going for long walks with Paul and Stella.

I got called the Flying Canadian when I was out running once and it stuck…
